Bored of sitting at home, watching the clock tick by? Sounds like Clifton Hill in Niagara Falls, Ontario is the next destination for your getaway. Located just 30 minutes from SUNY Niagara, it is a great way to relax, have some fun, and visit the beautiful Canadian side of the Niagara Falls. With the current exchange rate, a trip across the border is certainly worth it. $1 CAD is only $0.71 USD! Or, $1.00 USD is $1.40 CAD.

Why Clifton Hill? 

Although considered a “tourist trap” by many, there are so many great reasons to visit. Restaurants and bars are plentiful, there are several hotels within walking distance of the falls, multiple arcades, and lots of quirky shops and activities that are great for friends and family alike! Not to mention, Niagara falls is just around the corner. Drive, or even walk right through the border across the Rainbow Bridge! 

The Niagara Skywheel 

The Niagara Skywheel is a massive ferris wheel offering a stunning view of Clifton Hill. At $15 CAD, it is definitely worth going on at least once. The view gives you a great idea of what the surrounding area looks like, and where your next stop might be. The Skywheel is a great way to start off your Clifton Hill adventure.

The Movieland Wax Museum

Interested in seeing your favorite pop culture icons up close? Go to the Movieland Wax Museum. Sporting over 100 wax figures, you are sure to see some of your favorite movie stars! Elvis Presley, Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, and for all you “Swifties”- Taylor Swift! Take pictures of them, and take pictures with them!

Ripley’s Believe it or Not Museum 

If you are looking to be wowed, look no further. With over 500 different exhibits, “Ripley’s Believe it or Not” museum is full of interesting, quirky, and mind boggling displays. From rooms that warp your perception of size, to vortex tunnels, you will be left with nothing short of a feeling of amazement and curiosity. See the faux taxidermied mythical creatures, like a unicorn skull! Check out the miniature art, so small some fit in the eye of a needle!

Great Canadian Midway 

The Great Canadian Midway is a large arcade that offers many fun activities within the arcade. Sporting over 100 arcade games, it is a must visit for family and friends. Just preload a card with tokens, and play to your heart’s content… Or your wallet’s!

Looking to save some money for attractions? Get the “Fun Pass”!

Clifton Hill offers a discount for multiple attractions called the Clifton Hill Fun Pass. Mix and match between 6 different attractions! The cost is $34.95 CAD for ages 13+, and 22.95 for ages 3-12. The fun pass can be used for the Niagara Skywheel, Dinosaur or Wizard Golf, Zombie Attack 6D Theatre Ride, Movieland Wax Museum, Toy Store 4D Ride or Carnival Chaos Ride and the Ghost Blasters Dark Ride.

Halloween is right around the corner, meaning there will be many frightfully fun events! Don’t miss “Frightmare in the Falls”- a great opportunity to meet some of your favorite horror movie actors and creators! Sean Cunningham, the co-creator of Scream, Bobby McFarlane from Terrifier 3, Miko Hughes from Pet Semetary, and many more! Not to mention, many frightful attractions such as; “Jason’s kill shack”, the Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters, and The Butcher Shop Screen Used Horror Exhibit. Be Prepared! 

Don’t forget- crossing the border to Canada requires either an enhanced licence or a passport. Walking shoes are also recommended. You can easily spend a whole day walking. Most importantly, don’t forget to enjoy your trip to Clifton Hill!
