Navigating your way around campus can be a bit overwhelming. Luckly each building has its own specific use. Whether you’re here for administrative tasks, getting a snack, or looking for a place to study or unwind, knowing where to go can make life a whole lot easier. Luckly now you now have this helpful guide to some of the best places on campus.
The A Building it the place where all the administrator work gets done. Most people have to go here at least once or twice in their enrollment at the school. Despite that, the building can be a bit of a doozy to maneuver around. If you need to get your class transcript or change the address you’re living at than you’re looking for the Records Office (A105) which is located in Admissions. To pay off your bill in person then you’re looking for the Casher Office which is upstairs in room A205. And if you need to get disability and accessibility help then you’re looking for the Accessibility Services Office (A167).
C Building is the place where most of the science and mathematic classes are. There’s not much there in terms of things other than classes, but it is where the Wellness Center is. The Wellness Center is located in room C121 and provide free personal counseling and registered nurses are on staff. You can also pick up free personal hygiene products, tissues, hand sanitizer and over the counter drugs. Something that used to be in the C Building was the Snack Bar that is no longer there and has been mysteriously replaced with a wall sometime in the last year.
D Building has a plethora of things to do and see. There’s the Learning Commons where you can chill out, study, and hang with friends. If you’re ever peckish while in the Learning Commons, but don’t want to walk all the way to the cafeteria to get some grub, than go to the Campus Café, it’s located in the Learning Commons where a Tim Hortons used to be but they took that out two years ago, but hey it still shows on the online map. There you can buy chips, drinks, and to-go meals. The Learning Commons is where you’ll also find the entrance to the Dolce Valvo Art Gallery. The art gallery is run by Prof. Goodrich and displays art from local artists. Currently, there is art being presented by Mark Lavatelli, Michael Bosworth, and Kate Stapleton Parzych. The last of which is a professor at this school! The Gallery is a great place to sit, relax, and look at some gorgeous art.
Up the stairs and to the left in the Learning Commons is where the Lewis Library resides. The library is a great place to find books to read and/or help you with a project. There are private study rooms that you can use that have a computer and screen. As well as tables to study and relax at. Right at the entrance to the library (or across the hall but let’s be honest it’s totally in the library) is Academic Center for Excellence (ACE). Here you can use a computer, get tutoring and more.
E Building is another one of those buildings with not much other than classroom but it does contain the Small Business Center which recently relocated to the first floor this year. The Small Business Center helps to provides management and technical assistance services like business planning, development of marketing and global strategies and more. There are also free book bookshelves on the second floor of E building.
The F Building is where the Theater resides. You can go there to watch one of the many plays, music, and other performances. This also includes the upcoming play Borden. In the entrance of F Building are two pianos that you can play but be mindful of classes that are in progress.
The G Building holds a lot of things including the Campus Bookstore which is a great place to buy some snacks, school supplies and books just to name a few things. Past the bookstore and down the hall is the Credit Union in room G146 where you can do your banking. Past the Credit Union is the Food Bank (G126) which isn’t on any of the school maps. And you can get free food (if you need it). There is also Annie’s Clothing Closet (G117) which you can get clothes if you need them. Some fun things that you can do in G Building are bowl at Bowling Alley (G145), play video games in the Gaming Lab (G121), beat your friend at ping pong or a board game in the Rec Room (G117), all three of which open at 12:00pm, or you can play pool in the Student Hub (Across from Bookstore).
H Building is a place where you can go if you’re an athletic person. The big gym is open on Mondays and Fridays from 12pm to 2pm and you can play basketball there. And if you want to get buff for the summer or just want to exercise then head on over to the Weight Room/Fitness Center which opens at 10:00am Monday to Friday and opens at Noon on Saturdays. There’s the Racquetball Courts (H118) which you get to by going down a totally not creepy staircase, though equipment is not provided. There’s also a pool… well there was but now its emptied out and is now full of furniture (at least that’s what I’m told).
There are not just things inside. There’s also plenty of things to do outside, like the two Courtyards that are accessible from the indoors, though they won’t open until springtime. There are also Tennis courts, Basketball courts, a soccer field and walking track around the school. During the winter there is a snowmobile track that goes through the campus and around Sanborn.
Now you know all the best places to go, from studying places to fun activities, it’s up to you to go explore and have fun finding things to do while on campus!
